She dreamt of a natural home birth, but life doesn’t always go the way you plan. Born with uterine didelphys, she was at high risk from the start. From double cervix dilation, magnesium drips to the shifting heartbeat, Mama showed unmatched strength and welcomed her baby.
Bringing my baby girl into this world was the hardest & best thing I’ve ever done. If you know me you know I wanted the most natural birth. I wanted to have a home birth this time around but the world had other plans for me & that’s okay! I was born with uterine didelphys (two uterus, two cervixs & one kidney) that made me an automatic high risk pregnancy. I had to see a specialist monthly along side my regular OB appointments to make sure all was well with baby & me.
Freya was in my Left uterus as happy as can be! I was 36 weeks & 5 days pregnant when she was born. My little preemie baby. I had been having high blood pressure readings at a lot of my appointments and my doctor wanted to rule out preeclampsia.
For a couple weeks before she was born my doctor would test my urine for protein, have me take my blood pressure at home to insure it wasn’t just “white coat syndrome.”
I had been getting pretty bad migraines for a couple weeks where it would affect my vision & my water retention was pretty severe. I went in for my regular 36 week appointment & was told to go to labor & delivery for some extra testing like they had been doing for weeks prior & ended up no leaving the hospital & officially being diagnosed with preeclampsia.
Luckily I had packed my hospital bag the day before so it was all ready to go I just had to have my partner go home & get it because I wasn’t leaving & they admitted me on the 7th right away to start my induction. I was put on magnesium to regulate my blood pressure & They started me with three rounds of cytotech & after laboring all night I only dilated to a 1.5 & 2 (both of my cervixs were dilating) I was then started on pitocen in the early morning the day of the 8th.
After a few hours on pitocen I was only 2 centimeters dilated so they decided to break my water to get things going.
