The story of a comeback built on grit and gratitude, one year later!

A year ago, they couldn’t walk. Now, they stand tall with resilience and pride. This is a story of inspiration, of someone who turned life’s toughest setbacks into a powerful comeback. If you, too, are going through a setback, this is for you!

Today marks one year since my injury. It kinda makes me emotional to see how far I have come since that day. It took me 6 months alone to walk again, and for the remaining 6 months I have been pushing myself day in day out to make the best comeback humanly possible. Having an injury so severe has taught me 2 things.

1. Health is EVERYTHING and the fact I took care of my health before this happened put me in the best position possible to get myself back on my feet and make a speedier recovery than predicted and

2. There is nothing you cannot do when you put your mind to it. I knew I had a long road ahead. I knew there would be dark days but mindset is PARAMOUNT, you cannot give up and you cannot let a setback defeat you. It’s make or break. If anyone is going through similar right now I’m going to give you one bit of advice and that is; focus on the things YOU CAN DO.

Although I didn’t have use of my foot, I COULD still move the rest of my body, which meant I could train my upper body, it meant I could train my abs, it meant I could adapt lower body exercises to be non-weight bearing and it meant I could sit on a bike or swim. I COULD also control what I ate and this made a huge difference to being able to hold onto muscle mass and give my body the right nutrients it needed to recover.

I am so proud of myself for how far I have come since this happened to me, and I say that with chest, it has fuelled the fire in my belly to prove myself and make those around me proud.

If you’re injured, or have experienced a setback recently I promise you now you CAN get through it and you will, it is only temporary and you hold the power to how you respond to the situation. I also want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me through this and to you lovely people for keeping me going. Love you all
