When Life feel Slow Down, the Heart Speaks Louder”

When Life feel Slow Down, the Heart Speaks Louder”

speaks to the quiet but powerful shift that happens when life changes—when kids grow up, routines settle, and the house gets quieter. It’s not that your voice disappears, it’s that it evolves. This season may not be filled with the same kind of chaos or milestones that once filled your feed or conversations, but there’s still so much to say—just in a different way. It’s about discovering new depth in your own thoughts, finding courage to speak about harder things like health struggles, and embracing the beauty of everyday joys like dogs, oils, and small wins.

It’s realizing that your words don’t have to please everyone—they just need to be true to who you are now. It’s letting go of the pressure to entertain or impress, and instead choosing to connect, reflect, and encourage. It’s about honoring where you’ve been, being honest about where you are, and using your voice—not to stay relevant, but to stay real.

For all my friends, I’d thought I’d pause a moment to explain what I’m all about. Why I “show up” here the way I do.

When I began social media back in 2009, my posts were simple, maybe one line each and I probably didn’t post very often. I joined when my family moved to Lawrence, KS for a nine month sabbatical. In that season of my life, I loved the connection it provided me to my friends back home.

In the years following, I shared a lot of family happenings.

Since that time, my kids have grown and it’s not cool to share stories about them anymore. And, quite honestly, life with just Dave and I doesn’t provide enough interesting content to share. Don’t get me wrong. We are totally fun people 🤪 and life can be interesting being an Arnett, but it can also be kind of quiet with just two in the house.

But, even though life has changed, I still enjoy sharing what’s going on and along with my dogs, essential oils and other healthy living habits are a BIG part of my everyday life. As of late, I’m opening up about my personal health struggles associated with mold exposure.

I’ve also learned I love to write and tell stories. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably noticed that my posts have gotten longer and longer over the years. I don’t apologize for that, by the way. Creating content for here and my website has been a ton of fun for me!

So, these are the things I like to talk about. It’s what fills my mind and naturally spills over here. It’s what fuels me and brings me joy each day. In this empty-nest season of life, God has given me new words and a new purpose. The hope is the things I say will be helpful and encouraging to you. That something will resonate. If not now, maybe later on.

If you don’t appreciate my posts. That’s okay. You can scroll past or unfollow me. I’m learning to be okay with that. Sure, I want to be liked and I don’t want to lose your friendship, but not at the expense of conforming to how you think I should show up.

My goal with each post is to share what’s on my heart and be as authentic as I can be.
